Shiv Sena Manipur Unit, president M Tombi, urged both the state and Central governments to reconsider the geopolitical policies in Manipur if they result in the loss of lives or threaten the disintegration of the Indian map.

Tombi was addressing the media at the party’s state headquarters in Babupara, Imphal, on Wednesday.

He said that for over 500 days, the people of Manipur have been suffering due to the ongoing crisis, and both the state and central governments have been unable to manage the situation or restore peace.

Amid the crisis, Kuki militants have been holding two Meitei youths hostage for the past five days. He questioned whether the Kuki militants are above both governments, and why neither government has been able to rescue the two youths.

He urged both the Indian Army and Assam Rifles to take the initiative in rescuing the youths held hostage by the Kuki militants.

Tombi stated that the demand to exchange the two youths for an inmate in the custody of the NIA is an act of terrorism, adding that such acts are carried out only by terrorists, which the Shiv Sena strongly condemns.

He clarified that the government and the people of Manipur are not against all Kukis, who are also indigenous people, but are opposed to the illegal Myanmarese immigrants who have entered Manipur to continue their narco-business activities.

He warned that the state and central governments must bring the situation in Manipur under control before a civil war erupts.

Tombi also appealed to all concerned authorities, including both the state and central governments, to ensure the safe rescue of the two youths held hostage by the Kuki militants.
