Block Health Mela held across Manipur

The Block Health Mela is being held in connection with the 4th anniversary of the launching of Ayushman Bharat and 75 years of independence.

Block Health Mela was on Monday held at Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres across Manipur. 

In Heingang Mayai Leikai, Laibung, Block Health Mela and Telemedicine was inaugurated as a part of 100 days action plan of the new government of Manipur.

Talking to the media at the sideline of the function, Union Minister of State, Education and External Affairs RK Ranjan Singh said that the programme is being held in connection with the 4th anniversary of the launching of Ayushman Bharat and 75 years of independence. 

The main theme of the programme is to facilitate health care service at every doorstep, the MP said, adding that the health index of the state is very much crucial in order to bring progress in the society. With this view, the government is putting an effort to keep every citizen in good health, he said.

The union minister also said that this kind of programme will enable to develop a good rapport between government and citizen and appealed to the people of the constituency to avail the benefit provided under the said mela and update their health status.

The programme was also attended by Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East, Kh Diana Devi; Pradhan of Heingang Gram Panchayat, K Jayanta Singh and Block Development Officer, Heingang as president and guests of honour respectively.

In the mela, as many as 30 stalls were opened to provide health care service.

Block health mela held at Heirok

In Thoubal district, the District Administration Thoubal along with District Health Society, Thoubal organised the Block Health Mela for Wangjing Tentha Block at Ibudhou Yotningthou Laikol Community Hall, Heirok.

Chief guest of the function, MLA Th Radheshyam lauded the medical fraternity and other departments for their dedicated service during the pandemic.

He urged the people of the area and the district to adopt a healthy lifestyle by avoiding intoxicating food including tobacco items. 

Deputy commissioner, Thoubal A Subhash said the Block Health Mela is being organised in different parts of the country and in the state as well.

The district administration will be organising a two block health mela in the coming days, he said.  

He also appealed to the general public to apply for Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) Card to avail the benefits of the health assurance scheme initiated by the government of Manipur.

He further appealed to the public to get full Covid vaccine doses. He said that anyone can attend the mela to get information about various health programmes being carried out by the Central government, state government, NGOs among others.  

As part of the programme 30 stalls were opened for the public which included testing facilities and medicine distribution at the mela site. CMHT and Ayushman cards were also distributed and menstruation kits were distributed to female school students.

The programme was attended by chief medical officer Thoubal Dr Y Nokul Singh, medical superintendent Thoubal Dr Th Memcha Devi as guest of honour, ASHAs and Anganwadi workers among others.

As part of the Block Health Mela, District Food safety officer Thoubal deployed mobile Food Testing Vans along with stalls to generate awareness of the ‘Eat Right Movement’ in India.

Demonstrations were conducted by officials and staff of the department on food safety testing and were educating people about the eat right campaign promoting the concept and certification of hospitals, schools and industries. 

During the health mela, awareness was provided for different health programmes and on prevention of various communicable and non communicable diseases.

The key services of the health mela includes, reproductive child health relate on maternal and child health, family planning, IEC- Family welfare, reproductive Transmitted illnesses, sexually transmitted, illnesses, AIDS screening and treatment; NCD related on Yoga, meditation and lifestyle counselling, tobacco and alcohol cessation, cancer prevention awareness; Communicable diseases related on personal/environmental hygiene, leprosy control, TB control, malaria, skin care; Eye care on  refractive error, Cataract screening) among others. 

Similar block Health mela will be conducted for Lilong Block on April 20 and Thoubal Block on April 22 at PHC Lilong Campus and Ibudhou Tangjeng Ningthou Laikol Community Hall, Thoubal Kiyam respectively.

Block Health Mela organised in Jiribam

A Block Health Mela was organised by District Health Society Jiribam at the auditorium hall of RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, Babupara, Jiribam district. The event was attended by Jiribam Adhyaksha Zilla Parishad Kh Janaki Devi, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi, former BJP candidate N Bhudhachandra, chief medical officer Jiribam Elangbam Okendro Singh and SDO Jiribam S Indrajit Singh as the chief guest, special chief guest, president and guests of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Janaki Devi talked about the importance of the hakchel go card and urged the people to take the opportunities of the scheme. “Good health is a must in building a strong society,” she added.

Highlighting the importance of good physical and mental health, A Sharda said that the government has increased the amount provided under the CMHC card from Rs 2 lakh to 5 lakh. She urged the public to take care of their health and to consult the doctors without hesitation. 

MP Dr Lorho inaugurates Ukhrul block health mela 

Outer Manipur MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze inaugurated Ukhrul block health mela at Alungtang mission ground Ukhrul as part of the 100-day action plan of the Manipur state government on Monday. 

The health mela was organised as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. Speaking at the occasion, Dr Lorho who attended as the chief guest said that the role of doctors and nurses goes far beyond daily duty. “Saving lives and providing humanitarian services is what matters the most,” he said.

He also expressed his gratitude to district health society Ukhrul for hosting the health mela. 

Lorho, while urging the people to avail health benefits provided by the government, directed the medical fraternity to create more awareness to the public concerning various health benefits provided by the government to the public. 

The visiting MP also inspected stalls and interacted with the medical officers stationed in the counters.

Delivering the keynote address, chief medical officer Ukhrul Dr Kapangring A Shimray  informed that the health mela will be held in four blocks of Ukhrul district in phase wise as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. 

During the health camp, Covid vaccination, routine immunization, making of CMHT and PMJAY cards, registration for birth and death certificate and walkathon for elderly persons will be carried out. 

The programme was attended by DC Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar; chief medical officer Ukhrul, Dr Kapangring A Shimray, Tangkhul Shanao Long president, Thingreiphy Lungharwoshi, health staff and the populace of Ukhrul.
