Assistant commandant, 109 Bn CRPF Sh Loukhrakpam Ibomcha was felicitated with two bars of President’s Medal for Gallantry (PMG) on Friday, acknowledging his bravery against terrorist attacks at Kashmir.
A release issued by CRPF, Group Centre (GC), Imphal assistant commandant Satyendra Singh stated that assistant commandant, presently posted in 109 Bn CRPF Loukhrakpam Ibomcha Singh was felicitated with two bars of PMGs by IGP M and N Sector CRPF Imphal Manish Kumar Agarwal in an investiture ceremony organised by CRPF GC Imphal. Ibomcha was also awarded with one President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG), it added.
It recalled Loukrakpam Ibomcha’s courageous response to a ‘fidayeen attack’ on CRPF camp in Lethpora, Pulwama, Kashmir on December 31, 2017, where he rescued five trapped CRPF personnel and gunned down three militants as well, in an operation which lasted for two days.
In another incident on October 17, 2018, when firing took place between militants and CRPF troops during ‘Cordon and Search Operation’ at Fateh Kadal, Srinagar, L Ibomcha Singh led the troops and was involved in fierce gun battle with the militants, the release continued.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh Manish Kumar Agarwal extended appreciation for Ibomcha’s bravery and encouraged the officers and jawans who attended the event to exhibit similar courage in their duties, it mentioned. It also added that L Ibomcha expressed gratitude to the CRPF and Ministry of Home Affairs, government of India for recognising his efforts.
