Criticizing the Manipur government's inability to address the ongoing conflict, Imagi Meira has asked N Biren Singh to be a chief minister or resign from the post.
"Be a chief minister of Manipur or resign," Imagi Meira said.
Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club on Tuesday, Imagi Meira convenor Th Sujata strongly criticized the state government for its perceived inability to address the ongoing crisis, particularly in light of recent abductions in Jiribam.
"Nineteen MLAs need to decide their stand. Be a man, we will stand with truth", said Sujata, adding that those MLAs who went to Delhi and those staying back in Manipur should decide their stands. This is not a time for fractions and appear after success, she said.
All politicians or political party representatives who appeared on TV discussion disclosed their true nature of not saving Manipur, said Sujata, stating that the blame game between parties won't save Manipur.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the state government's behaviour towards the violence in the state, Sujata called for immediate action to rescue six individuals, including three children, who were reportedly abducted by Kuki militants.
Imagi Meira has long been urging both the state and central governments to take decisive action to resolve the conflict, but Sujata emphasized that the lack of response from authorities has been deeply disheartening for the people of Manipur.
"Is the ruling party taking the people of the state as scapegoats? Why should people die in violence for their separate administration demand", Sujata asked.
She also called for saving Manipur stating that it's not time for the budget session.
"We think 48 MLAs are for the valley only. But there is no unity between them, then how will the people unite", she said.
She also scolded the people for not helping each other, stating that those children staying at relief camps or at border zone areas are also children.
In front of the media, the chief minister's voice is very strong but please turn your words into action, Sujata said and called on the CM not to play divide and rule game between people.
“We have repeatedly appealed to the government, but the failure to address the issue continues to be a matter of great concern. It is frustrating to see that despite our efforts, the authorities have not taken concrete steps,” Sujata said.
She questioned MLAs for not being open and Frank among themselves but rather with some of them putting up in the centre.
If you are right, go to Delhi and put up all the facts before the centre and urge to save Manipur, Sujata told the MLAs including the chief minister.
Now, Imagi Meira is feeling ashamed to even come out in front of the media as the organisation has urged many times for taking proper steps to save Manipur.
"Even the dogs will understand and become wise. Why don't you MLAs and CM?", Sujata asked, urging them to go to the centre for saving Manipur or take a decision within seven days.
While expressing confidence in the capabilities of Prime Minister Modi, Sujata urged him to direct his attention to the plight of the people of Manipur. “We all know that Prime Minister Modi has the ability to mediate and resolve issues in many countries. Now, it is time to use that skill to save Manipur,” she added.
