The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Manipur Unit on Saturday called on the BJP to swiftly address the protracted crisis in Manipur instead of sowing confusion among the public.
This comes in response to BJP Manipur president A Sharda’s recent denial of the involvement of BJP MLAs in the demand for a separate administration.
Speaking at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, Bishwanath, the activity coordinator of AAP Manipur, alleged that the demand for separate administration, advocated by 10 MLAs, including seven from the BJP, had resulted in loss of life, significant property damage, and the displacement of many residents, plunging Manipur into a state of total unrest.

Bishwanath raised questions regarding the inability of the “double-engine government” to address the involvement of BJP MLAs in the separate administration demand.
The activity coordinator, however, praised a recent speech by Chief Minister N Biren Singh in Andro and urged him to align his words with concrete actions. Additionally, he called on the chief minister to visit various districts, including Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and others, to initiate steps towards restoring normalcy promptly.
Further recalling CM Biren’s earlier statement about the positive impact of the BJP government on peace in Manipur, Bishwanath urged the chief minister to take proactive measures to restore normalcy and be able to make a similar statement once more.
The activity coordinator also criticised central BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, for emphasising on election campaigns while Manipur has been facing unrest for the past six months.
He urged the central leaders to visit Manipur and take immediate action to restore peace and normalcy, during its scheduled visit to Mizoram for election campaign.
