As a part of NALSA’s Pan India awareness and outreach campaign, all District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) under the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) launched a special 15-day door-to-door campaign on Saturday at Cheirap Court complex.
The campaign was organised to identify the marginalised, vulnerable and those needing help and ensure that their rights and entitlements are actualised in reality. The respective chairpersons and secretaries of each District Legal Services Authorities launched the special campaign in their respective districts in the presence of legal services functionaries and district administration officials.
At Cheirap Court, District and Sessions Judge, Imphal West A Guneshwar Sharma flagged off the door-to-door campaign in the presence of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West Y Somorjit Singh, advocate RK Imoba and para-legal volunteers of DLSA, Imphal West.
The campaign was also launched by District and Sessions Judge Samom Ibjen; superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi, Karthik Malladi and secretary cum Chief Judicial Magistrate, Senapati A Tarunakumari Devi at Kangpokpi DC office complex.
The same campaign was also launched by Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Senapati , Samom Ibjen; additional District Magistrate, Senapati H L Jain; Superintendent of Police, Senapati Maharabam Pradeep; Secretary cum Chief Judicial Magistrate, Senapati A Tarunakumari Devi and additional Public Prosecutor to District and Sessions Court, Senapati Koshia Mao at Senapati DC office complex in presence of Civil and Police officers.
During the campaign, the para-legal volunteers of DLSA, Senapati will visit the door-to-door campaign and distribute pamphlets to far flung areas and interior villages of Senapati and Kangpokpi districts. The programme was organised by the DLSA, Senapati under the aegis of NLSA and will continue till October, 30, 2021.
The aim and objectives of this campaign is to identify those persons who are in need of legal aid and to provide free legal aid to the needy persons.
Member Secretary, MASLSA Ojesh Mutum also launched the campaign from Kamjong district wherein awareness on free legal aid and services were provided along with distribution of legal services pamphlets to villagers residing in remote villages such as Montu, Mathang, Lambui, Shanshak, Lungreiphung, Singha, Nungpak Khullen, Puntha, Kangpat, Hangkaw, Kongkan, Pushing, Lakhan, Chatric and others.
Throughout these 15 days, around 350 para-legal volunteers and other legal services functionaries will attempt to cover all the 2,580 villages of Manipur to give awareness of the rights and entitlements, and identify all such beneficiaries and provide legal aid and assistance wherever required.
Executive chairman, MASLSA Justice Kh Nobin Singh has also emphasised the need to reach out to every such person, instead of waiting for them to come to the legal services institutions.
