The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) said the organisation strongly refutes the defected group led by Raitu Chawang and S Kamson in their using the name of ZUF to negotiate with NNPGs and declaring a merger to GPRN/NSCN and claiming that the identity of ZUF shall cease to exist in a report published on local daily.
The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) was formed in 2011 with a clear vision to protect its people, land and natural resources, said a release.
“To have our own Homeland and free from external forces, many precious life have been sacrificed starting from our great leaders such as Haipou Jadonang, Rani Gaidinliu, late professor Gangmumei, late DP Panmei and many more Zeliangrong leaders and ZUF cadres,” it said.
“For the blood that we shed, for the lives that we gave, for the sacrifices that we made is all for the sake of our Zeliangrong people,” it stated. The standpoint of the ZUF is for the integration of Zeliangrong to live under one administrative umbrella, which is why the ZUF have submitted a memorandum to the Government of India in three occasions, it added.
The release further stated that the ZUF has been standing firm without compromising on any issue according to its correct perspectives which are a matter of great concern for the Zeliangrong as a people irrespective of divisive elements that may prevail in the family from time to time.
“ZUF will continue to strive for the larger interest of the Zeliangrong people unwavering in its stand to protect our people and preserving in promoting the rights and resources of the Zeliangrong. We will never back down and surrender to any group and we will fight till the last drop of our blood for our people,” it added.
The release further said that in contrary to the vision of ZUF, the group led by Raitu Chawang and its gang has betrayed the Zeliangrong people time and again. They are playing the sentiment of the Zeliangrong people for their own benefits, it alleged.
Their declaration to merge in the GPRN/NSCN and ceasing to exist the identity of ZUF have shown their true colours that they have no vision or zeal to work for the people but work and talk only for their own gains by using the name of Zeliangrong, it said.
Raitu Chawang was appointed as the incumbent Chairman of ZUF in July 2018, it said. He was highly regarded as a leader of our community but he sold out the organisation for his own pocket, it alleged. Therefore, the emergency meeting of the Central Executive Council expelled him from the post of Chairman ZUF and organization with immediate effect from today, it added.
“ZUF also warns a handful of Zeliangrong CVO leaders who betrayed the Zeliangrong people to step down from their respective post immediately in moral ground. Failing to comply with this direction, any eventuality shall be faced at their own risks,” it added.
