Valentine’s Day which comes once a year is special for the people particularly the youths and they celebrate it with their special ones in different ways. On this day, shops are placed with red roses and gifts attractively at different corners of the streets to attract the youths.
But this year, ‘Life Savers Manipur’, a non-government organisation engaging in voluntary blood donation campaign came up with a unique way to engage the youths in a celebration which will benefit the people.
In connection with the Valentine’s Day, ‘Life Savers Manipur’ organised a blood donation camp at Saina Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal on Friday.
Briefing the media during the camp, managing director of Life Savers Manipur, K Padmakumar Sharma informed that the motive behind organising the blood donation camp on Valentine’s Day is to engage the youths especially the females in celebrating the day for the benefit of the society.
He said that the blood donation on Valentine’s Day is organised so that youths can also contribute something for the society on the special day though they may be celebrating it in a different way in the past.
He further said that the donated blood will be special and helpful for those who are in need. The donors should be happy that their blood can save the lives of other people.
According to the organisers, 99 volunteers donated blood in the camp. The blood donation camp was jointly organised by Saina Institute of Medical Science, Life Savers Manipur, Lions Club of Imphal Greater and HDFC bank Imphal in collaboration with State Blood Cell, National Health Mission and department of Transfusion medicine RIMS.valentines day 2020, blood donation on valentines day, lief savers manipur
