The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has appealed to the authority concerned to open fair price shops urgently as most of the essential commodities are running out of stock both in hill and valley regions of the state.
A release stated that to contain the pandemic of COVID 19 in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a 21 days total shut down from March 24 midnight. But the people of the state have already started facing lack of many essential commodities, it said. The state government should make proper arrangement to address the problem, it added.
It also stated that collective efforts from every walk of life are highly needed to break the chain of present pandemic. The people should also follow the orders issued by state government with utmost sincerity, the release stated. At the same time, the state government should also draw attention to provide the basic needs required by the public otherwise, all the measures taken up by state government would become meaningless, it added.
The state government must also take concern about providing the basics needs at quarantine centres opened by state government as many complaints are surfacing about the lack of essential items in the said places, UCM stated. The release appealed to people of the state to take all possible steps to prevent the spread of the disease.
