A memorial tree plantation program around the crematorium and community hall was observed at Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai, Cheiraoching Makhong Imphal.

Thongam Chaomu Singh (Oja Chaomu) organised the tree plantation program in memory of his younger sister, late Th Rena Devi. On the occasion, five Ashoka trees (Polynthea pendula and an Ngairong tree (Litshea cebaba) were planted in the memorial plantation ceremony by the family members.

On the occasion, Chaomu stated that his late younger sister, Th Rena Devi was always very polite and loved the environment. Therefore, to have her memory forever, they chose to plant the Polynthea pendula tree which has downward branching showing the modesty of his sister.

Chaomu also appealed to everyone to plant the memorial trees on such occasions not only for the memory of the departed souls but also to save the present day degraded environment.
