Our culture is our identity, said Works minister Thongam Biswajit Singh Monday at the 48th Koren (Koireng) Youth Organisation, (KYO) Manipur General Conference cum Cultural and Sports Meet, 2020 at Ngairong village in Churachandpur district.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Biswajit said that the centre today recognises that India cannot be called developed unless all states including Manipur are developed. He added that the state government also understands that Manipur cannot be called developed unless the entire state is developed.
He further expressed the need to protect, preserve and maintain the culture, tradition and customs of all communities residing in the State.
Further in his speech, he also stressed on the need to spread industrialisation across the state, and assured development in the area.
Today, human resource has become the most important resource in bringing development to a society, he stated.
In a message to the youth, he said that the youth of the community should understand that they alone can bring development to their community through active participation, determination and will power to do better.
He continued that anyone can do well for the society without even joining politics.
Reacting to memorandums which focused on inclusion of the Koireng tribe in the endangered lists, and other local infrastructure development submitted during the programme, Biswajit assured to look into the issues.
The programme was also attended by Kshetrigao MLA Nahakpam Indrajit as guest of honour.
The programme which began on January 13 will continue till January 18.
