Tamei declared COVID-19 containment zone

After two persons from Tamei, who had been visiting RIMS, Imphal and returned home, tested positive for COVID-19, Tamenglong district magistrate on Friday declared Tamei as containment zone.

The district magistrate in his order stated that in view of the impending threat of COVID-19 pandemic in the area, it has become expedient to issue containment measures to prevent the spread of the disease in the area.

The areas are sealed with immediate effect with restriction in entry and exit. Order has also been issued for closure of schools and offices, and public gathering in any type and vehicular movement have been banned in the area.

Meanwhile, total shutdown of Tamenglong bazaar continued at the district headquarters and Tamenglong police and CRPF are monitoring all the movements of daily commuters.

Moreover, Hungyo Worshang, district magistrate of Noney on Thursday issued prohibitory order under section 144 CRPC 1973 banning all movement of person outside their respective residence with immediate effect till August 6. He said that the order was issued in pursuance to the chairperson of state executive committee, State Disaster Management Authority’s order for extension of complete lockdown in the state due to increase in COVID-19 cases from people who have no travel history.

If anyone is found violating the order, he or she is liable to be prosecuted under relevant rules. However, the order shall not apply to the government agencies involved in law and order, maintenance of essential services and list of permitted activities under the order of home department, he added.
