CM Conrad Sangma launched Meghalaya Water Smart Kid campaign on Wednesday.
Biren instructed the PHED to organise such awareness campaigns at different areas near river sources, convincing the people on the importance of using water judiciously and conservation of forest areas.
A Central team of ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain (JSA: CTR)’ headed by Ministry of Labour and Employment director Manoj Kumar Gupta deliberated the issue of water availability and its challenges to the participating women.
An interactive session was also organised in the training cum awareness programme which was attended by 47 farmers.
The Manipur PHED minister said that even though awareness to educate people on the preservation and conservation of water has been taken up, it takes time to make the people understand the importance of harvesting water.
The programme was jointly organised by District Administration, Churachandpur and PHED Manipur as part of the celebration of four years of citizen centric governance in the state.
The district-level campaign was launched under Jal Shakti Abhiyan-Phase II.
