On June 16 the Directorate of Education directed schools to charge 50 per cent of regular monthly fees from students during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
UARSoM was reacting to a statement issued by AMSGO on Monday that UARSoM requesting at least 70 per cent of the tuition fees from the parents/guardians is akin to dishonoring the notification of Education (S) that directs schools to collect 50 per cent of the monthly payable fees from students.
The state government should first take decisions in connection with the students who are not able to get admissions in schools and later discuss the fee structure, the AMSGO said..
Schools which do not conduct online classes or any other activities during the pandemic should not collect student tuition fees from the parents, the United Association of Recognised Private Schools Association Manipur (UARSoM) stated.
The Directorate of Education has ordered to pay 70 per cent of the monthly payable salary to teachers and staff.
The All Manipur Students Union said they welcomed the latest government order regarding collection of monthly fees and disbursal of salaries of staffs and teachers for all private and aided schools.

The association warned the Education department to act responsibly before any untoward incident happens.
HiDiPSAM warned that in case of the situation going out of hand, the education department (Schools) and the education minister would be held fully responsible for the unfortunate turn out.
"The private schools are contributing for the welfare of the state regardless of the uncertainties which lie ahead."
The government order also directed the schools not to hike admission fees for the session while collecting the same.
