The court convicted the accused on May 5 under section 6 & 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO Act) for having committed ‘Aggravated Penetrative Sexual Assault’ and ‘Aggravated Sexual Assault’ on a minor girl on January 10, 2020.
Longjam Pinky Singh, son of Inaocha of Singjamei Chanam Pukhri Mapal, has been convicted for committing aggravated sexual assault on the minor girl at different locations from June 28, 2014 to October 4, 2015.
The investigating officer of the case found that the accused is an uncle of the minor who stayed with him in the same house.

The Manipur High Court single bench Justice MV Muralidaran directed the chief secretary and DGP Manipur to make appropriate arrangement for creation of a separate wing in the police department to deal with the cases of crime against women and children in the state.
