Online classes of government colleges in Manipur were halted for the past three days, as the Federation of Government College Teachers’ Associations (FEGOCTA) had boycotted the online classes as an agitation, demanding implementation of the 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018.
On June 22, the Federation of Government College Teachers’ Associations (FEGOCTA) had warned of boycotting online classes and examinations of government colleges by July 1 if the government fails to implement the 7th Pay for the college teachers.
FEGOCTA on Tuesday urged the state government to issue an order for implementing the 7th UGC Pay and regulations, 2018 by June end and also threatened to boycott the online class if their demands are not fulfilled.
FEGOTA says it rejects the “incomplete order” as it contradicts the cabinet decision of August 6 last.

The All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) has appealed to the state government to resolve 7th UGC Pay and Regulation, 2018 demanded by the college teachers so that the admission process and other academic activities are not disturbed once the educational institutions are reopened.
The decisions was taken up as a part of agitation against the state government’s failure to implement the 7th Pay for the government colleges and technical institutes teachers, said FEGOCTA general secretary N Somorendro.
