The Bharat Bandh is being observed to mark four months since the farmers ' protest began in November last.
The farmers have clarified that poll-bound states and union territories will be exempted from the Bharat Bandh.
"The temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments, especially when resorted to by celebrities and others, is neither accurate nor responsible," the MEA stated.
