The media fraternity had early has set 4 pm of April 23 as the deadline for clearance of advertisement bills.
A joint meeting of publishers, members of Editors Guild Manipur (EGM), Manipur Hill Journalists Union (MHJU) and All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) has given all three parties of April 23 as the deadline to clear all pending advertisement bills, stated AMWJU and EGM in a joint release.
The decision to suspend the strike was resolved after DIPR sanctioned an amount of Rs 92.19 lakh meant for print and electronic media, a release stated.
There will be no news bulletin and discussion programme for electronic media on December 16 and no publication for print media on December 17
In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the AMWJU and the EGM on Wednesday decided to ban holding of all press meets, conferences, and public gathering at Manipur Press Club for now.
The AMWJU and the EGM has condemned the Manipur State Sumang Lila Council or demanding a sum of Rs 50,000 each from local cable TVs.
The media fraternity in Manipur staged a sit-in protest at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai, Imphal, Manipur on Sunday.
