Troops of 44 Assam Rifles on Saturday launched a Covid-19 awareness programme at Aziuram and Namtiram villages in Tousem Sub- Division of Tamenglong district.
The drive focused on reaching out to far-flung villages to keep the villagers updated with the COVID-19 related guidelines and advisories
The event was organised by the Tengnoupal district Health department in association with the district administration.
The one-day awareness camps were organised by aspiring BJP candidate for MLA of 44 -Ukhrul assembly constituency and former national executive member of ST Morcha Asai Somayang Ngakuimiza.
The 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector Assam Rifles IGAR (E) has created a Covid awareness parody on Hindi songs. The unit jazz band playing on lyrics of a popular Hindi song has rolled out its first such song.

Demonstration on personal hygiene was also conducted during the campaign and the public were made aware of the symptoms of the virus and the need for immediate help and isolation
The COVID-19 awareness rally was carried out at Heingang area, Imphal East starting from Laipham Khunou and culminating at Heingang Mayai Leikai.
A memorandum has also been submitted to the minister in-charge of Churachandpur to set up another 300 bedded COVID Care Centre, the AHPI said.
Awareness on virology, healthcare, environment care, disinfectant, water and sanitation, health hygiene, volunteer management, dos and don’ts for psychological support for COVID-19 were given.
About 300 volunteers of the forum reportedly took part in the awareness programme and mass sanitisation drive by wearing t-shirts imprinted with the words ‘corona warriors’.
