The declaration was made after a resident of Ningthoukhong Ward no 15, Radha Mandop of Bishnupur district was tested COVID-19 positive.
After two persons from Tamei, who had been visiting RIMS, Imphal and returned home, tested positive for COVID-19, Tamenglong district magistrate on Friday declared Tamei as containment zone.

A release signed by MHA president Ajit Wangkhemcha mentioned that resolutions were taken in an emergency executive meeting held on Wednesday.

An order issued in this regard by deputy commissioner, Imphal West, Naorem Praveen, has sealed the area thereby imposing restrictions on entry and exit of population from the containment area and vehicular movement in the area.
With the detection of 31 new positive cases, Tamenglong district now has 93 COVID-19 positive cases. In all 31 new positive cases, eight inmates are females and 23 are male inmates, including a two-year-old child.
The government said there will be curfew in Imphal city and other district headquarters from 2 pm to 5 am on all days till June 15 while curfew will be imposed from 5 pm to 5 am till June 30 in the other areas.
