Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai on Saturday appealed to the public not to hurt the sentiment of the people over Mt Koubru issue.
The inaugural day was also attended by officials and staff of the Sericulture department including director S Kunjakishore Singh; deputy director Ch Harendrakumar Singh among others.
Newmai visited the Seri-farms located at Kairembikhok, Tekcham, Kuraopokpi, Heirok, Uyal and Athokpam in Thoubal district on Tuesday.
The minister visited farms located at Nachou Panthong, Kha Potsangbam, Ningthoukhong Khakhunou, Phubala, Tronglaobi, Moirang Khunou, Kumbi, Terakhong Kumbi, Haotak, Sagolpat and Torbung Bangla.
The forest minister stressed that awareness needs to be raised among the people and failure to act immediately may lead to extinction of many animals and birds species.
