Over 70 pigs at Phalee village in Ukhrul district have died due to an unknown animal disease, villagers said.

As investigation and intervention of the government is awaited to address the issue of animal disease outbreak and ease the plight of the villagers in the hills of Manipur, the Imphal Free Press spoke to villagers of Sinakeithei carrying out piggery farming as their main source of livelihood.
Headman of Sinakeithei village told the Imphal Free Press that an unknown animal disease reportedly hit the village in May 2022 and killed around 50 pigs, including piglets, and left several infected.
