The Manipur chief minister pledged to construct a Rs 5 crore worth ‘amusement cum children park’ at the district headquarters.
A delegation led by Opposition leader and former chief minister Mukul Sangma also sought the governor’s intervention for immediate release of the pending salaries to the employees and for holding of elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) with no further delay.
A release by vice chairman of AMTU, T Ashuhrii Romeo stated that the union will support both physically and morally to the proposed agitation that might be taken up by ATSUM if the state government fails to conduct the ADC election in time.
ATSUM president Seiboi Haokip said that the union particularly the tribal people of the state cannot accept further extension of the ADCs elections
ATSUM submitted a memorandum to the chief minister on Monday and sought immediate consideration of the recommendation of the Hill Areas Committee for timely conduct of the election.
