The closing ceremony of the four-day long 5-A-Side Soccer Knockout Tournament was held at Makhuam Village Part-III ground under Noney District on Thursday.
The tournament was organised by Makhuam Students’ Union (MSU) under the motto ‘Talk with Feet, Play with Heart’.
Principal St Joseph School Khumji Bazar Khamjianlung Gonmei, Makhuam Village Thoupei chairman Lankhuilung Kamei attended as chief guest and guest of honour respectively in the presence of president Makhuam Students' Union (MSU) Rigunpou Golmei and his colleagues leaders along with executives of MSU.
Speaking as chief guest, Khamjianlung Gonmei expressed his gratitude to the organising committee for their warm welcome and inviting him to attend as a chief guest. He encouraged the team players to maintain the spirit of game and sports in every field.
He spoke on the topic, “Talk with Feet, play with heart.” He said that sports is also a part of education in today’s world.
Presentations of gifts and distribution of prizes were the main highlights of the programme. Makhuam Village Authority, Makhuam Pei, Makhuam Youth Club and Makhuam Churches leaders attended as special invitees.
Dehoisting of flag by guest of honour and the closing ceremony was successfully concluded with vote of thanks from vice-president MSU Ziankhampou Gondaimei.
It may be mentioned that as many as 32 football teams took part in the tournament. The final match was played between Gaisui Sporting Club (SC) and PBC FC where Gaisui SC beat PBC FC by one goal.
