Cine Writers and Playwrights Forum (CWPF), Manipur, on Wednesday announced the result of the second Manipuri Film Script Competition-2019 at a press meet held at Film Forum Office, Lamphelpat, Imphal.
CWPF president Manaobi MM announced that ‘Chumthangdasu Amamba’ written by Naorem Doren has bagged the first prize and won the ‘Sarungbam Mani Singh Ningshing Mana’ which includes a cash award of Rs 30,000, a shawl and citation.
‘Wathok Khao’ penned by Aribam Shivdas Sharma and ‘Kanglei’ written by Nandeibam Pramoda won the second and third prizes namely, ‘Gurumayum Sakhigopal Sharma Mana’ and ‘Khomdram Bidhu Amasung Khomdram Amubi Ningshing Mana’ respectively. The award carry a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively along with shawl and citation, the CWPF president said.
Highlighting the aims and importance of the competition, Manaobi said that the competition is held every three years to encourage script writers bring out innovative scripts of world standard by imbibing the idea of ‘Manipuriness’. As many as 31 scripts were submitted to the forum for the competition this year. The screening committee finalised 20 scripts for the competition and provided to the jury members, stated the forum president.
Manaobi maintained that the writer of scripts that won the 4th to 10th positions will also be honoured with consolation prizes. He informed that ‘Yenning’ by Moirangthem Ibopishak, ‘Meerep’ by Shijagurumayum Suchitra, ‘Namthak’ by Tayenjam Tomba, ‘Firep’ by Mani Tayenjam, ‘Thainagi Pakhang’ by Kiran Meikam, ‘Asibagi Pal’ by Ningthoujam Promila and ‘Likhun’ by Ajanta Thounaojam won the 4th to 10th prizes respectively.
The CWPF president maintained that the prize distribution ceremony will be scheduled by considering the situation of the state within this month.
