Red Ribbon Manipur Idol 2019: Creating HIV/AIDS awareness through music, see pics

The grand finale of Red Ribbon Manipur Idol pulled down the curtain of World AIDS Day observation here Sunday evening.

Music band ‘Innocent Eyes’, was named the winner of Red Ribbon Manipur Idol, 2019 from among the seven bands that competed, while at the same time spreading awareness on HIV/AIDS through their music.

Guest artists and bands including Guru Rewben Mashangva, Phynyx, Vignettes among others also enchanted the crowd in the musical evening.

Innocent Eyes, Virgo Diamond and GMP The Band respectively won the first, second and third prizes, which is cash prize of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. Not Funny from Ukhrul won the prize for best original song and lyrics, which is Rs 10,000 for their number ‘Ribbon Child’.

The winner band Innocent Eyes will represent Manipur in Northeast Multimedia Campaign for awareness about HIV/AIDS, which will be held on December 18 in Imphal.

Joint director, care, support and treatment, Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS), Dr Lucy Duidang said music being a language both the young and old understands, we want to tell the people especially the young people to say no to drugs but instead get high on music and enjoy music without drugs, enjoy life without drugs and not to indulge in unsafe sex.
