‘Question on disclosure of whistleblower’s identity does not arise’

The disclosure of the identity of a whistleblower in connection with the leakage of COHSEM question papers by the personnel of the Cyber Crime police station (CCPS) does not arise nor have the investigation details been revealed at any stage by CCPS,  claimed an official statement issued by the police department.

The statement also clarified that the  investigation of the case was started on the basis of a written report submitted by the  secretary of COHSEM on February 20 vide FIR 17(2) 2020 of CCPS, CID Crime Branch, Manipur about question papers being circulated widely on social media platforms.

It added that during the investigation, one person identified as Moirangthem Sunderchand of Kiyamgei Mamang Leikai who is the management staff of Dineshwori Hr Sec School, Canchipur, Imphal was arrested in the evening of February 22 as a result of the efforts of the officers of CCPS, CID (CB), Manipur.

No tip-off was shared to CCPS by anybody regarding the person(s) responsible for leaking the question papers, it added.
