One arrested for alleged sexual abuse of his minor daughters

The victims’ mother, who has already been divorced with the accused, made the complaint that her former husband had been continuously sexually abusing their two daughters, who are just 12 and 13 years old, since February 2017.

One man allegedly accused of sexually abusing his two minor daughters was arrested on Wednesday by Churachandpur police after a complaint was filed by the mother of the victims at Churachandpur Women Police Station on August 18 evening.


The victims’ mother, who has already been divorced with the accused, made the complaint that her former husband had been continuously sexually abusing their two daughters, who are just 12 and 13 years old, since February 2017 till July 2020 at his (accused) house, and threatened the girls not to say a word regarding the illicit incidents to their mother or anyone. 


On receiving the complaint, an FIR was registered at the women police station under Section 6 of POCSO Act, 2012. The next day, a police team led by additional SP (IUCAW), Hasby Haokip and OC, WPS, Chinneilam Gangte immediately raided the house of the accused and made the arrest.


Sources from Churachandpur police said that on preliminary examination, the accused admitted to have committed the crime. However, the result of Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) of the accused person turned out to be ‘negative’. Further, the Special Judge, POCSO, Churachandpur has remanded the accused person in police custody for a period of seven days, from August 18 till August 24, it added.


Further investigation on the case is going on and the police source did not want to divulge the identity of the accused person due to security reasons.
