Native Flavours – a food festival to celebrate the rich lineage of Tangkhul cuisine and tradition was kicked off on Friday at Langei Nongpok Sanjenbam, Imphal East.
The public throng the place to join in the celebration as a total of 15 food stalls were opened at the three-day festival venue on Friday.
The festival is different from other festivals as it reflects the bond between Meiteis and Tangkhuls, said Th Arun, proprietor of Arun Enterprises, in his speech as chief guest on the inaugural function. He lauded the organisers for their innovative idea of strengthening the relationship with Meitei and Tangkhul through foods.
People should support and encourage such festival which is organised to promote love and unity, Arun said.
The festival, which will continue till December 22, was organised by Langei International in collaboration with the department of tourism.
