Manipur's COVID-19 positive tally nears 8000 mark

Manipur on Monday reported a dip in new positive cases at 96.

Manipur on Monday reported a dip in new COVID-19 positive cases at 96. However, the statewide tally is nearing the 8000 mark as it reached 7971 positive cases, according to official data.

The recovery rate increased to 79.53 per cent as 149 persons were discharged on Monday. The cumulative number of recovered cases stands at 6,340. Number of district-wise covid-19 confirmed cases from general population is given as 16 from Imphal West, 17 from Imphal East, 20 from Thoubal, 10 from Churachandpur, one from Kangpokpi, one from Bishnupur, three from Noney, five from Chandel, two from Ukhrul, one from Jiribam and two from Tamenglong. Of the 78 new cases from general population, 12 persons are returnees from other states and the rest are locals with no travel history, according to an official data from the covid-19 common control room.

There were no report of death and the cumulative number of deaths remained 46 on Monday. The cumulative number of active cases is 1,585.

Meanwhile, the new confirmed cases have been shifted to Covid Care facilities in the state. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, a release signed by Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang Additional Director and spokesperson Health Department, Manipur added.
