Manipur's COVID-19 positive tally nears 2,000

Twenty fresh cases including nine from Imphal West, three from Tamenglong, two each from Imphal East, Thoubal and Senapati and one each from Bishnupur and Ukhrul were reported in the last 24 hours.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur reached 1,911 on Sunday with the report of 20 new cases in the last 24 hours, official sources said.

According to a release from COVID-19 Common Control Room, the 20 fresh cases included nine from Imphal West, three from Tamenglong, two each from Imphal East, Thoubal and Senapati and one each from Bishnupur and Ukhrul. 

“All except two persons, one each from Imphal East and Thoubal are returnees from other states,” it said, adding that all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

It also said that 53 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.

The numbers of active and recovered cases are 676 and 1,235 respectively. The recovery rate is 64.62 percent, the release added.
