Manipur's COVID-19 death toll rises to 10; positive tally surges to 3,466
The state reported two more deaths and 249 new positive cases on Friday
Manipur's COVID-19 death toll rose to 10 with the report of two more deaths due to the disease on Friday. The positive tally surged to 3,466 with the highest single-day spike of 249 new cases in the state, official sources said.
Both the victims are males, a 76-year-old from Kangpokpi district and a 28-year-old from Chandel district. They had co-morbid health conditions
Of the new postive cases, 165 are Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel. Of the 84 general positive cases, 14 are from Imphal West, while 37 are from Thoubal, 10 from kakching, 12 from tamenglong, three from Chandel, six from Bishnupur, and one each from Imphal East and Kangpokpi, a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
Twenty-one of the general positive cases are returnees from different parts of the country, while the rest are locals without any significant number of travel history, the release stated.
Till date, 694 patients have been confirmed as locally transmitted non-returnee COVID-19 positive cases. The rate of non-returnee locally transmitted case among all positives is 20 per cent, the release added.
All the new positive cases have been shifted to Covid Care facilities in the state, Additional Director and spokesperson, Health Department, Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said.
Meanwhile, another 21 COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from the hospital. With it, the cumulative number of recoveries is 1926 while the number of active cases is 1530, including 701 security personnel.
