Manipuri feature film-Pandam Amada (In Pursuit of) directed by National Award winning director Oinam Goutam is set for a world premiere at the Dhaka International Film Festival 2020 to be held at Dhaka in Bangladesh.
The 18th edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival 2020 will be held in Dhaka from January 11 to 19, 2020.
Produced by Sarokons under the banner of Takhel Films, Pandam Amada has been selected among 15 films to be screened in the Children’s Film Section of the DIFF 2020.
Ahmed Muzraba Zamal, the Festival director of the Dhaka International Film Festival communicated to the film director Oinam Goutam on October 31, 2019 regarding the selection of his film in the festival, a release said.
He informed that one film among the 15 films would be selected by audience vote for the Best Juvenile Film Audience award. The award will be in the form of a certificate and a crest.
“The objective behind introducing a Children’s film section from the very start was to address unprivileged children and their families who might not be aware of their rights. The section encourages school children, their parents and their teachers to come and gain from the films and be aware of their rights,” Zamal said in the release issued by the Film Society of Manipur.
The feature film Pandam Amada is a story about a kind hearted and innocent boy whose father wanted to give him good education. In pursuit of it, he gets into bad company and was exposed to unfavourable environment.
The film highlights the importance of parental skills – “to give children a sense of security, acknowledge their feelings, be approachable, to give quality time to them”. Bonny Takhelmayum plays the lead character of the film.
Pandam Amada is the fifth Manipuri Digital Feature film certified by the Central Board of Film Certification.
