The Manipur International Youth Centre (MIYC) on Sunday expressed suspicion over the mass deployment of Indian security forces in the state and alleged that the same might be a hidden agenda to disintegrate Manipur and urged the state government and the people to unite efforts against such oppressive policies of Indian government.
A release issued by MIYC Coordinator, T Parijat Singh, reflected on the Manipur government’s statement which reportedly said that the deployment of Indian security forces in the state is to oversee corruption, unlawful arrests and other minor issues in the state and asserted that the public find it highly doubtful.
It accused the Indian government of attempting to disintegrate Manipur by siding with the Kukis, like the same way Jammu and Kashmir was disintegrated in 2019. It pointed out that many people have expressed opinions that India is allegedly taking sides with the Kukis and waging proxy war against Manipur.
It further noted the increasing influx of illegal Burmese Kukis in Kamjong district as well as the refusal raised by the International Commission of Jurists to deport the refugees back to Burma. There are over 2000 Kuki villages mushrooming in the state, it said and added that Manipur’s Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal districts have been occupied by the Kukis. It expressed discontentment that India is allegedly encouraging the illegal immigrants by issuing Aadhaar cards, ensuring benefits of schemes and including them in the voter and ST list, thereby making them Indian Citizens.
It urged the indigenous communities of the state to be aware of the same and initiate necessary actions to repatriate the illegal Kuki immigrants and oppose their demands for separate administration or Union Territory. MIYC expressed apprehension that the indigenous people will be wiped out if swift actions were not taken at the earliest, it mentioned. It reiterated its call to the civil society organisations, Meira Paibis and people of the state to unite efforts and take concrete stand against the oppressive policies of India.
