An irate mob vandalised three BJP offices in Thoubal district early Friday.
The BJP Thoubal district offices was vandalised at around 2 am with the mob destroying the office gate, windows and windshield of a Mahindra Scorpio parked in the complex. They also tried to set ablaze the two-storey building by throwing in petrol bombs.
CRPF personnel stationed to guard the office fired tear gas shells to disperse the mob but no casualties were reported from the incident.
Meanwhile, BJP Khangabok Mandal office was also vandalised at around 5.30 am on Friday by irate locals who set ablaze benches, tables, chairs and cupboards from the office.
BJP Wangjing Tentha Mandal office was also attacked by agitators the same day. The mob broke the flag post of the office and set ablaze the posters of BJP leaders and office documents.
Reasons for the attacks in the offices remain unknown but it is believed that it was a retaliation of halting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at Bishnupur during his visit to Churachandpur on Thursday.
