The Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) has expressed two pressing concerns affecting the well-being and security of the people of Chandel.
In a press release, the CNPO expressed "concern over the recent transfer orders of medical officers issued by the Director of Health Services, Manipur."
"As we prepare to request additional facilities, such as a blood bank, at the district hospital, we learned that doctors and nurses have been transferred", the CNPO stated and appealed to the Director of Health Services, Manipur, to reconsider these orders and augment the medical team with more doctors and nurses, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services and addressing long-standing demands.
The apex body of the Nagas in Chandel also expressed concerns and condemned, what it termed as "fake recoveries by Assam Rifles, BSF and Manipur Police" of arms and ammunition in Western Valley area of Chandel district.
"We strongly condemn the reprehensible actions of the central force and state force in Western Valley, Chandel, where fake recoveries of guns and ammunition have been made," the CNPO stated.
These uncivilized acts demonstrate a lack of education and understanding, the CNPO said and questioned whether the commanders believe the CNPO to be oblivious to their actions. "We have documented two incidents, on June 25 and August 21. If these forces continue such acts in Naga areas, they must be prepared to vacate the region," the CNPO stated.
The CNPO then urged for prompt attention to these matters to ensure the well-being and security of the people of Chandel.
