Manipur Updates: COVID-19 death toll rises to 63 as one more patient dies

The state recorded 254 new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday.

Manipur's COVID-19 death toll increased to 63 after a 55-year-old female from Bishnupur expired at RIMS on Friday, official sources said.

The state recorded as many as 254 new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday. With the new positive cases, the state's tally surged to 9,791, a release from the Covid Common Control Room stated.

Of the 254 new cases, 196 persons are from general population while 58 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel. The new cases from the general population include 127 from Imphal West, 13 from Imphal East, 11 from Churachandpur, five from Bishnupur, 12 each from Thoubal and Kakching, one from Kangpokpi, seven from Tamenglong, six from Tengnoupal and two from Ukhrul. The cumulative active case is 2,126, the release stated. 

Only two persons from general population, one each from Bishnupur and Imphal East, are returnees from other states and  the rest 196 cases are locals with no travel history, it added.

Meanwhile, 233 persons were discharged in the past 24 hours. With the new recoveries the cumulative recovered cases increased to 7,602 and the recovery rate is 77.64 per cent, the state health department stated. 

The state health department further stated that in case of emergency, the public can call Psychological Support Helpline Number 8787457035, 9402751364, 7629943596; Hospitalisation Helpline Toll-Free Number 18001032015 and Helpline Covid-19 Common Control Room Number - 18003453818 are available 24x7, it stated, adding that one can register for positive and inspiring stories by volunteers and organizations.

"If you were in contact with a positive person, isolate immediately. Contact Covid control room or CMO for testing. Together we can break the COVID chain," it added.
