The Transporters’ and Drivers’ Council (TDC) has expressed strong condemnation over the unruly behaviour of a police personnel, who even threatened to shoot by loading his gun, towards members of the Senapati Truck Drivers’ Association.
Speaking to the media at TDC office, MG Avenue, TDC president, H Ranjit said that the council appreciated the immediate suspension of ASI, Kangpokpi police, Th Hitler, who was involved in the sheer display of police excesses as seen in the viral video.
“However, we are not satisfied with the suspension only as it will be restored after sometime. Such an ill-disciplined police personnel should be terminated from his service,” he demanded and warned of intense agitations if the government failed to terminate him at the earliest.
Ranjit further stated that TDC does not take the assault, that too on Drivers’ day, lightly. “The driver may have committed mistake, may have not. However, we are against the ‘threat to shoot’ attitude of the ASI,” he said and also asked who will bear responsibility if the victim was injured or died.
The council strongly denounced the unruly act of police, who are supposed to protect the drivers from armed groups and anti-social elements along the national highways, he added.
