A preparedness meeting of all the heads of departments, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) under the chairmanship of the director, RIMS was held on Tuesday in view of the spread of COVID-19 in the country and the state.
To curtail the spread of COVID-19 infection and make an increase in isolation wards, the meeting took several resolutions to be implemented with immediate effect, stated a release. The meeting took the resolution for closure of the psychiatry ward, clinical psychology including methadone treatment and shifting the Psychiatry department to the present Dental College, RIMS Imphal, it stated. The vacated space available will be utilised for the purpose of managing COVID-19 related activities, it added. The meeting further resolved that the General OPD shall be closed while emergency cases, serious cases, ante-natal cases and cancer cases shall be taken as per their merit of treatment in casualty, it further stated.
It was resolved that in order to enable the healthcare providers of RIMS Hospital to concentrate on fighting COVID-19, no referred cases from other hospitals will be entertained at RIMS Hospital, Imphal for the time being, the release stated. In the event of quarantine, private ward and guest house will be reserved for quarantined staff and students, it said. The supply of food and water staff involved in COVID-19 related duties and students will be provided by the Hospital Kitchen, it stated. The meeting also resolved that there will be restriction of admission to ICU, it added.
