Manipur records highest single-day spike with 64 new COVID-19 cases

Of the new cases, 44 cases were confirmed at the Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) of JNIMS while the other 20 cases were confirmed at the VRDL of RIMS in Imphal.

Manipur on Saturday recorded highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases with 64 new cases, 28 males and 36 females, taking the total number of cases in the state to 449, official sources said.

Of the new cases, 44 cases were confirmed at the Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) of JNIMS while the other 20 cases were confirmed at the VRDL of RIMS in Imphal, state health department spokesperson Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang stated in a release.

“They will be shifted to Covid Care facilities in Imphal. All necessary precautionary measures such as containment and contact tracing are already taken up," the spokesperson added.

On Friday, 19 new cases were reported, taking the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the state to 385, including 312 active cases and 73 recovered cases.
