Manipur records highest single-day COVID-19 spike with 286 cases
The state recorded one more death on Friday, pushing the death toll to 69.
Manipur on Friday recorded another highest single-day COVID-19 spike with 286 cases, including 60 Central Armed Police Force (CAP) personnel, in a span of 24 hours, official sources said.
Manipur now has 11,397 confirmed COVID-19 cases of which 2,336 are active cases while 8,992 are recovered cases, a release by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
The new cases among the general population include 103 from Imphal East, 73 from Imphal West, 12 from Tamenglong, 11 from Churachandpur, eight from Tengnoupal, seven from Noney, four each from Bishnupur and Thoubal, and two each from Senapati and Jiribam. Only two persons, one each from Imphal East and Bishnupur, are returnees from other states while the rest are locals without significant travel history, the release stated.
The new COVID-19 positive cases are being shifted to COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.
One female aged 64, from Imphal East died at JNIMS in a span of a day, pushing the cumulative number of deaths to 69, the release stated.
Meanwhile, 351 more patients were discharged on Friday.
