Chief minister N Biren has condoled the demise of former minister Salam Ibohal Singh, who breathed his last on Tuesday. On behalf of the government and the people of Manipur, the chief minister conveyed his condolence and shared grief with the bereaved family.
According to a release from the CM’s office, S Ibohal was elected to the state Assembly for the first time in 1980 from Thanga A/C. He was again elected in 1990 as well and became the minister of power and PD-PR.
His last election to Assembly was in 2002, and during his long political career which spanned for four decades, S Ibohal worked for the state in various capacities, it added.
Inner MP, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, in a message, has also expressed his sadness over the demise of the senior BJP leader, S Ibohal.
Vice president of BJP State unit, M Asnikumar Singh has also extended his condolence over the demise of the former Thanga MLA.
A release stated that the demise of the senior leader is an emotional moment for him while extolling his virtues and efforts as a far-sighted political leader. While mentioning that he was motivated to join the BJP through the influence of S Ibohal, M Asnikumar Singh stated that he along with the party share in the grief of the family, near and dear ones.
Meanwhile, Manipur Ex-MLA’s Welfare Association, in a condolence message, has expressed its condolences to the bereave family of S Ibohal.
The message recalled his history as a former representative of Thanga assembly constituency for two terms and his services as a minister of the State. He was known as a good parliamentarian and he lived a distinguished life, it said while also mentioning that S Ibohal is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
