Manipur COVID-19 Updates: Death toll rises to 71; total cases 11,649

The state reported 252 new COVID-19 cases, including 24 CAPF personnel, in a span of a day.

Manipur's COVID-19 death toll rose to 71 on Saturday as two more persons died in a span of 24 hours, official sources said. 

Two females aged 68 and 46, both from Churachandpur district, died at home and CCC lanva TD block respectively, a release by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

Manipur recorded 252 new COVID-19 cases, including 24 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnels, taking the total tally to 11,649 in a span of a day, the release stated.

Of the new cases among the general population, 94 cases are from Imphal East, 52 from Imphal West, 26 from Churachandpur, 14 each from Thoubal and Noney, six from Kakching, five each from Chandel and Ukhrul, three each from Tamenglong and Kangpokpi, two from Tengnoupal and one case each from Senapati and Bishnupur. Only one person from Churachandpur is a returnee from other state while the rest are locals without significant travel history. the state health department said. 

The new COVID-19 positive cases are being shifted to COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.

Meanwhile, a total of 89 persons were discharged on Saturday after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. With it, the cumulative number of active and recovered cases in the state is 2,497 and 9,081 respectively.

"If you were in contact with a positive person, isolate immediately. Contact Covid control room or CMO for testing. Together we can break the COVID chain," the health department stated.

The public can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home between 10 am and 3 pm every day except Sunday by downloading ‘eSanjeevaniOPD’ app at Google Play Store or by visiting the website ‘www.esanjeevani.opd.in’.
