Manipur chief secretary instructs govt offices, educational institutes to remain open during shutdown

The chief secretary, government of Manipur, J Suresh Babu has issued an order instructing all government offices, including educational institutions to remain open on Tuesday and function normally.

The move came following the total shutdown being imposed from the midnight of Monday till 6 pm Tuesday by the Manipur People Against Citizenship Amendment Bill (MANPAC). The order mentioned that all the employees should attend their respective offices compulsory. Necessary instructions should be given by administrative secretaries to all head of departments in this regard, it said. Similar order will be made effective for educational institutions and commissioner (Education S), and Higher and technical education shall ensure normal functioning of school and colleges, it stated.

Necessary action should be taken against head of institutions who failed to follow the order, it further said while adding all deputy commissioners shall ensure functioning of all offices in districts and ensure attendance in all offices. Departmental actions shall be initiated against the employees who are absent, it added.
