Manipur win 115 gold, claim champion title of National Masters Athletics Championship 2020

Manipur claimed the overall team champion title of 41st National Masters Athletics Championship 2020 held at Main Stadium, Khuman Lampak.

Manipur collected 115 gold, 61 silver medals and 45 bronze medals for 777 points for the overall team champion title. Assam gets the runners up with 667 points while Tamil Nadu took the third position with 405 points.

In the Men category of the meet, Assam bagged the first position with 334 points while Manipur came second with 324 points and Tamil Nadu got 270 points.

While in Women category, Manipur took the forefront collecting 453 points for the top spot while Assam gets the second slot with 333 points and Tamil Nadu fetch the third spot.

Altogether 2700 athletes from the country starting from the age group of 35 years took part in the competition. Education Minister Th Radheshyam Singh and Sports Minister Letpao Haokip briefly attended the closing moment of the meet as the Manipur Legislative Assembly budget session is currently underway.

During the closing function, David Premnath, Secretary General, Masters Athletics Federation of India(MAFI) informed that the first Women Masters Athletics Championship will be held at Goa from next year.
