A book ‘Loktak the distorted mirror’ authored by Ngangom Sanajaoba Meitei of Kwakeithel Imphal was released on Sunday at the Sendra Inland Transport Station, Bishnupur.
The book release function was held in the presence of principal of Kumbi college, K Jugeshwar, technical chairman of the State Wetland Authority, Kh Shamungou, retired lecturer of the Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Hememcha Sova, and principal of the Mangoinganbi college, Ningthoukhong, RK Birjit.
The writer during the function said the book was a result of his deep love for the lake and that the book was prepared over six years, during which he many times doubted if his book had explained accurately the details related with the lake.
But suspecting he would not have done justice to the lake if he held back from publishing the book he went ahead in making the book possible, he said.
The people in the state identify very much with their land and especially with the Loktak lake this bond deepens, he said while mentioning that the people survived on water and foodstuffs from the lake. He tried to portray various old and new stories in the book, he added.
Jugeshwar in a speech said that Loktak is home to 265 kinds of vegetation, and more than 425 animals and the book brings together all these elements of life.
