Learners, drivers’ license valid till September 30

If there is delay in paying the fees from February 1 till the period of Lockdown, there would not be any additional or late fee to be charged for such delays till July 31, MoRTH said.

Directorate of Transport, Manipur has notified that the validity of fitness, permit (all types), learner's license, driving license, registration or any other concerned document whose extension of validity could not or not likely be granted due to lock-down and which had expired since February 1 or will expire till September 30 will be treated to be valid till September 30.

The notification was made on June 18 in view of people facing difficulties in renewal of validity of various documents related to Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 due to imposition of lock-down in view of the threat imposed by the spread of COVID-19.

The notification said Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued an advisory on March 30 to all states and UTs regarding extension of validity of the documents related to the Motor Vehicles Act and Central Motor Vehicles Rules to be valid till June 30.

MoRTH has issued a Gazette notification on May 21prescribing that the fees paid on or after February 1 for the activity(s) under Rule 32 or Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, including renewal and in case such activity(s) is not completed due to conditions for prevention of COVID-19 pandemic, the fees paid shall continue to remain valid, it mentioned.

Taking into consideration the grim situation across the country, the MoRTH has issued further advisories to states/UTs on June 9.

In pursuance of the latest advisory, the government of Manipur notified the extension of validity of documents related to Motor Vehicles Act and Central Motor Vehicles Rules, it added.
