The Johnstone Higher Secondary School quarantine centre that has been running for the last few months under the guidance of RK Imo, MLA Sagolband constituency along with the members of Sagolband constituency progressive committee, was declared closed on Thursday.
With hundreds of people quarantined in the last three months, the MLA along with volunteers had been ensuring that the people quarantined there do not face problems and stay with comfort.
On Thursday, the last batch of 74 people were discharged. People from Sagolband areas can now choose to stay at any institutional quarantine centre or paid centre at hotels, stated the volunteers.
The last batch was discharged after testing negative for COVID-19. Some of them have been residing for quite some time as the centre was turned into a containment zone due to few people who tested positive. However, after further tests, all turned negative and were discharged following the protocol of the health department.
RK Imo expressed gratitude to all those quarantined at the centre for their cooperation. He also thanked the volunteers, health department staff, the police officials and all others involved in making the centre successful.
