IHRA appeals to suspend eviction drive at Tengnoupal district

President of IHRA, Mark Thangmang Haokip on Wednesday said that all affected families should be compensated based on the exact rates and figures approved by ADB through a survey made by them.

International Human Rights Association (IHRA) has appealed to the deputy commissioner of Tengnoupal to suspend eviction drive at Tengnoupal district before delivering a fair compensation amount as per survey made by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

President of IHRA, Mark Thangmang Haokip on Wednesday said in a release that all affected families should be compensated based on the exact rates and figures approved by ADB through a survey made by them.

The National Highway-2 is an international highway that covers all the affected families by the extension of the highway. The deputy commissioner submitted the list of the expansion rate per household issued under ADB direction, it added.

It is unfair and a violation of fundamental human rights concerning forceful notification of eviction notice served to the affected families within a few hours of time. IHRA will deal with it seriously as per human rights and the safety of the affected families if any corruption is involved in the matter, the release said.
