Id-ul-Fitr entreats mankind to perform positive deeds to enhance souls: Najma Heptulla

Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla, Chief Minister N Biren Singh and other state leaders send greetings to the people of Manipur on Id-ul-Fitr, and called for forgiveness and oneness among the people in the state

Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla and Chief Minister N Biren Singh sent out greetings to the people of Manipur, especially to the Muslim brethren, on the auspicious and joyous occasion of Id-ul-Fitr on Monday, and called for forgiveness and oneness among the people in the state.   

The governor in her message, stated, “Preceded by ‘Ramadan’ a month-long fasting period, this Holy Festival not only spreads the message of peace, brotherhood and universal love but also entreats mankind to perform deeds of positive value to enhance our souls.”

The message associated with this festival is most relevant in the present tumultuous world, it said.  

While celebrating festivals like Id-ul-Fitr, let the people strengthen the feeling of oneness and any ill-will which may be there, should be either forgotten or forgiven, it stated.

 “Let us also remember that we human beings inhabit only one planet and the whole world is but a single family and any strife needs to be settled through peaceful means. On this auspicious occasion, as beneficiaries of the showers of the love of God, let us all resolve to work together to preserve and propagate the message of peace, friendship and love. I join the people of Manipur in celebrating the Holy festival of Id-ul-Fitr”.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh also said - Eid ul-Fitr fall on the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a month of fasting, spiritual renewal and recommitment to the values of gratitude, charity and compassion, said his message.

“Even as we observe the festival, we must maintain all norms of social distancing in order to protect ourselves from the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.  

Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh said this festival is a chance to further the spirit of peace and brotherhood in society in his message. Let this Eid also inspire the people in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, he stated.

“Today, let us once again pledge to follow and take the necessary precautions including physical distancing, wearing mask and frequently washing of hands to contain the spread of COVID-19,” he added.

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) also conveyed its wishes on Eid-Ul-Fitr which was celebrated after a month-long Ramadan. It hopes to restore peace, happiness and love among the different communities in Manipur with the blessings of Allah.

Manipuri Muslims will be celebrating Eid with the rest of the world. MPCC wishes the brave Meitei Muslim to enjoy to the fullest. It also hopes that the on-going COVID-19 pandemic ends with the celebration of holy Eid.

Manipur People’s Party (MPP) sent its wishes and stated, “Let it bring peace, prosperity and development with the coming of Islamic religion festival Eid-Al-Fitr.”

A released issued by president in-charge, MPP, S Brojen Singh mentioned that “with the coming of Eid-Al-Fitr festival let us uprooted COVID-19 completely”.

State Shiv Sena, president, M Tombi Singh also extended his greetings to the muslims especially of Manipur with the coming of Eid festival.

A release issued by Tombi said the state party strongly cautions Muslim bretrens, while celebrating the festival. The release further appealed to follow standard protocol for controlling and fighting the COVID-19 by maintaining social distancing and by avoiding large gathering while celebrating the festival.
